Scorchers Post 155 to Secure Comfortable Victory at Gallowstree Common

Sonning U13 Scorchers produced a clinical all-round display to defeat Kidmore End Under 13 Kites by 33 runs in the BYCL Under 13 Blast North West league fixture at Gallowstree Common on Sunday. After being asked to bat first following the hosts' decision to field, the Scorchers compiled 155 for 9 from their 20 overs before restricting Kidmore End to 122 for 4 in reply.

Opener Ishan Jithendriya anchored the Sonning innings with a well-constructed 22 from 28 balls, hitting three fours as he batted through the early overs. He put on 19 for the first wicket with Henry Verrier Jones, who contributed a brisk 5 before falling caught by Tom Roach off Jared Connor's bowling. Captain Charlie Bright then joined Jithendriya and the pair added a crucial 31 for the second wicket, with Bright striking two fours in his 9 before being caught off Sumay Minnaar.

Jithendriya continued to accumulate, and when he departed at 70 for 3, bowled by Rishwith Vipperla, he had provided the platform the innings needed. Charlie Koslicki maintained the momentum with a punchy 10 from 11 balls, including two boundaries, before being adjudged lbw to Vipperla with the score on 89. The middle overs saw Sonning lose wickets at regular intervals as Sriram Goteti produced an outstanding spell of 2 for 3 from his two overs, including a maiden, to briefly check the scoring rate.

Jamie Dollinger injected vital energy into the latter stages, smashing 15 from just 10 balls with two fours and a six. His partnership of 24 with Daniel Moseley for the seventh wicket lifted the total past 130 and ensured the Scorchers had a competitive target to defend. Elijah Patel finished unbeaten on 9 as Sonning closed on 155, a total significantly bolstered by 65 extras, including 36 wides and 16 no-balls from the Kidmore End attack.

In reply, Kidmore End made a positive start as Minnaar and Goteti put on 28 for the opening wicket. Henry Bright broke through to bowl Minnaar for 9, and the hosts then lost two further wickets in quick succession. Oliver Barker bowled Goteti for 15, and Muhammad Shah removed Tom Roach for 8 to leave Kidmore End 44 for 3 and facing a significant task.

Captain Dylan Cox and Kairav Pandya steadied the innings with a patient partnership. Cox was the more aggressive of the two, hitting three fours in his 17 from 30 balls, while Pandya occupied the crease for 30 deliveries in making 4 before both retired not out. Jared Connor threatened to make the contest interesting with a muscular unbeaten 23 from 15 balls, striking three fours and a six, but Ishan Jithendriya had James Prodger caught by Charlie Bright for a golden duck to ensure the required rate remained beyond reach.

Daniel Moseley deserves particular mention for his tidy spell of 2 overs, conceding just 6 runs with a maiden, while Charlie Koslicki was equally economical with figures of 2-1-5-0. The Scorchers used nine bowlers in total, sharing the workload effectively, and despite Connor's late assault, Kidmore End finished on 122 for 4 — 33 runs short of the target. The victory earned Sonning a full 20 league points as they continue their campaign in the North West division.
