Match Report

Short Summary due to time constraints this week.

After winning the toss Sonning elected to bat first on a very dodgy looking pitch against the side who were second going into the match. Saad and Khurram started brilliantly with Khuram (108) getting his hundred on his first match for Sonning. His running between the wickets and punishing anything short was the highlight of the innngs. Dan Anderson (62) played an equally brilliant inngs. His calm and composure held the inngs together and also gave a platform for the late assault. Captain Waqas (36) came late on and smashed his way to 36 in no time with Khalil (16) also chipping in with late runs. Sonning declared on 252/5 after 45 overs giving themselves enough overs to bowl the opposition out.

After the tea break – Sonning started brilliantly with Saad and Aamir bowling exceptional spells. Saad bowled with pace and accuracy and was duly rewarded with two wickets. On another hand Aamir was his usual best with his quick off breaks which kept the batsmen guessing. He finished with 4 wickets of his 12 overs. With victory in sight captain brought in the new comers Ashoke and Sirini. Ashok bowled lovely off breaks and he was rewarded with two quick wickets for his efforts. Captain took two late quick wickets to wrap up the victory inside 34 overs. Khalil deputised for Nick (Due to late call up for the 2nds) behind the wickets and did a brilliant job. .

It was well deserved victory. Opposition were outplayed in all departments. Batting, bowling and fielding were all on the mark and Sonning 3rd took their first victory in TVL.
