Ali Malik's 117 helped Wood reach 254-9 in their innings in the face of some fine bowling from Harvey Grout (6-86).
'Timmy' Malik then took 4-30 to leave Sonning's reply in trouble, but 53 from George Troughton proved to be crucial as they held on desperately for the draw on 159-9.
