Scorchers Cruise to Comfortable Victory as Williams and Ramesh Star with the Bat

Sonning U11 Scorchers secured a convincing win over Goring at Knowl Hill CC on Wednesday evening, chasing down 104 with considerable ease to post 143 for 5 from their 20 overs in this BYCL Under 11 T20 Blast West fixture.

Captain Ridith Kandadi won the toss and elected to field, a decision that proved astute as Sonning's bowlers applied early pressure. Vivaan Ramesh delivered the most economical spell of the match, conceding just three runs from his two overs while claiming the key wicket of Harrison Kelly, and bowling a maiden in the process. Aryaansh Rawat struck shortly after, clean bowling Edward Williams to leave Goring in difficulty at 15 for 2.

Goring's middle order mounted a recovery through captain Aadi Kulkarni, who top-scored with 18 from 25 balls including two boundaries, and Henry Mullock, who batted through the innings for an unbeaten 15 from 28 deliveries. However, the visitors were hampered by a significant extras tally of 52, which accounted for more than half of their total of 103 for 4. Jude Alden provided a sharp finish to the Goring innings, bowling Grigori Puzanov and Rory Ambridge in quick succession to claim figures of 2 for 10 from his two overs.

The Scorchers' reply began solidly if not spectacularly, with Kandadi and Aryaansh Rawat putting on 13 for the first wicket before Rawat was caught off the bowling of Rory Ambridge. Kandadi fell shortly after for 7, bowled by Kiyaan Gupta, to leave Sonning 29 for 2. What followed was a spectacular assault from Oscar Williams, who blazed 28 from just 10 balls, striking six fours in a breathtaking display of clean hitting that effectively settled the contest before retiring not out.

Jonathan Turner continued the aggressive approach with a brisk 7 from 4 balls before Gupta claimed his second wicket, but the damage had already been done. A crucial partnership of 65 runs spanning the middle overs ensured the Scorchers never looked in danger. Jacob Garner anchored proceedings with a patient 9 from 25 balls while the batters around him continued to score freely.

Vivaan Ramesh underlined his all-round credentials with a fluent 25 from 20 deliveries, finding the boundary three times during an innings that showcased impressive timing. Jude Alden added a composed 12, and Shaurya Gore struck an unbeaten 8 including a four to round off a comprehensive batting display. Every Sonning batter who faced a delivery contributed to the total, reflecting the depth throughout the order.

The Scorchers reached their target with runs to spare, finishing 40 runs ahead of Goring's total. It was a dominant all-round performance, with the bowling unit restricting the opposition to just 51 runs off the bat, while the batters dispatched the target with authority. The 20 league points earned will give Sonning confidence as their campaign progresses.
