Thames Fusion Fire Awarded Victory as Valley End Arrows Concede
Thames Fusion Fire picked up a valuable 20 points in the BYCL Girls U15 Blast Group 2 after Valley End CC's Girls U15 Arrows conceded the fixture scheduled for 13 July at Waingels College.
The match, set to be a 20-over contest in the Berkshire Cricket Competitions league, did not proceed after Valley End were unable to fulfil the fixture. The result was officially recorded as "Valley End CC - Girls U15 Arrows - Conceded," handing Thames Fusion Fire the full allocation of league points without a ball being bowled.
While the Fire will be pleased to bolster their standings in Group 2, the squad will no doubt have been disappointed to miss out on valuable match time and competitive overs in the middle. Opportunities to develop under pressure in league cricket are not easily replaced, and the young players would have relished the chance to test themselves against the Arrows.
Valley End's concession means they leave Waingels College empty-handed, collecting no points from the fixture. The reasons behind the concession were not detailed in the official match record.
Thames Fusion Fire now bank the 20 points and turn their attention to their next Group 2 assignment, where they will hope to get out on the field and put their skills into practice in a competitive setting.
