Match Report

Sonning remain poised to strike if Purley do slip up, and last Saturday gained a five-wicket win at West Ilsley which came with six overs to spare.

Stubborn resistance from Amit Rawal (40) steered the Newbury outfit to 130-2 before Gary Phillips came on to take his wicket and followed it up by getting a stumping.

The West Berkshire side emerged with 183-9 having been gifted some wides and byes.

Naz Hussain (41) set a good early pace before getting caught on the ropes.

But it was a magnificent innings by Latif Gohar (90) which saw Sonning home despite some solid bowling from Dick Beech (4-52).
