Scorchers Post Commanding 41-Run Victory at Shinfield

Sonning U11 Scorchers produced a dominant all-round display to defeat Shinfield by 41 runs in the BYCL Under 11 T20 Blast at Manor Ground Sports facility on 30th June. After winning the toss and electing to bat, captain Ridith Kandadi's side posted an imposing 141 for 5 from their 20 overs before bowling out the hosts for 100 with seven balls to spare.

The Scorchers' innings was built on consistent contributions throughout the order rather than one standout knock. Opener Jonathan Turner set the tone with a composed 16 off 25 balls, striking two fours before retiring not out. He and Musa Meer put on 30 for the opening wicket, giving their side a solid platform before Meer was unfortunately run out for 5.

Seve Horton maintained the momentum with a brisk 13 off 15 balls, including two boundaries, as he and Jacob Garner added 41 for the second wicket — the most productive partnership of the innings. Horton was eventually bowled by Sharvil Taur, who was the pick of the Shinfield attack with figures of 3-1-9-1, including a maiden over. Shinfield captain Vihaan Shinde also bowled tidily, claiming 2 for 15 from his three overs.

The middle order continued to apply pressure. Savraj Sall struck three fours in a punchy 16 off 18 deliveries, while Lewis Towner contributed 15 off 16 balls. The pair added 35 for the fourth wicket, stretching the total beyond 100. Skipper Kandadi remained unbeaten on 14, and Jaiden Patel chipped in with 7 not out as the Scorchers milked the final overs effectively. A hefty 51 extras, including 20 wides and 18 byes, further boosted the total.

Shinfield's chase began disastrously. Musa Meer produced a devastating opening spell of 2-1-3-2, removing Sharvil Taur for 2 and Atharva Singh for a first-ball duck to leave the hosts reeling at 7 for 2. Tharun R battled gamely for 3 off 21 balls but was caught off Dhruv Kashetty's bowling, and when Jonathan Turner bowled Vihaan Shinde for 4, Shinfield were in deep trouble at 20 for 4.

Krish Keshari produced the standout innings of the match with a counter-attacking 25 off just 16 balls, cracking five fours to briefly give the home side hope. He and the lower order combined in a 33-run partnership for the fifth wicket that brought Shinfield back into contention. However, Jaiden Patel's introduction proved decisive — he bowled Karthik Pakyala for 1 and then had Felix Brewer caught by Meer for 4, finishing with excellent figures of 3-1-7-2.

Anshrith Bhattacharya (9) and Adith Arun (8) provided some late resistance with a 26-run eighth-wicket stand, but Savraj Sall wrapped up the innings in clinical fashion. Sall claimed three wickets for just 5 runs from 1.5 overs, including the crucial scalp of Keshari bowled for 25, before dismissing Arun and stumping Bhattacharya through the sharp glovework of Lewis Towner. Shinfield were bowled out for 100 in 18.5 overs, handing the Scorchers a comprehensive and well-deserved victory.
