Falcons Fall Short as Shinfield's Extras-Fuelled Chase Proves Decisive

Sonning U9 Falcons suffered a frustrating defeat at High Copse Pavilion on 26 July as Shinfield Under 9 Knights overhauled their total of 98 with some comfort, reaching 135 for 8 in their 20 overs in this BYCL Under 9 Super 8s Central fixture.

Captain Younus Ahmed won the toss and chose to bat first, and the Falcons' innings was built on contributions spread across the order rather than any single dominant knock. Ahmad Naqash top-scored with 11 from 16 balls, striking two boundaries, while George Oliver-Gee matched that tally with 11 from 13 deliveries, including a four. Ziko Ghosh Nag (8 off 14) and Arthur Lynch (8 off 13, with two fours) also chipped in usefully, and Ahmed himself added a brisk 7 from just 8 balls. Extras contributed 33 to the total, with 16 no-balls a particular feature of the Shinfield bowling.
