Sonning Scorchers Overwhelmed as Shinfield Knights Dominate at Manor Ground

Sonning U11 Scorchers suffered a comprehensive defeat against Shinfield CC Under 11 Knights at Manor Ground Sports facility on Monday, as the home side secured a convincing 103-run victory after posting a commanding total of 150-5.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Shinfield's opening pair set a solid foundation. Captain Kabir Garg led from the front with an impressive 28 from just 18 deliveries, including five boundaries, before retiring not out. He was ably supported by Abhinav Sinha (18) in a productive 76-run opening partnership that immediately put Sonning on the back foot.

Shinfield continued to accumulate runs at a steady pace throughout their innings, with Kanishk Prasad contributing a well-crafted 26 off 22 balls before retiring not out. Nikhil Pawa added valuable middle-order runs with 21 from 23 deliveries before falling to Alexander Hatchett-Walker. The Sonning bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, with 29 extras further bolstering the Shinfield total.

Oscar Williams (1-18), Jonathan Turner (1-8), Aryaansh Rawat (1-16), and Alexander Hatchett-Walker (1-17) each claimed a wicket for Sonning, while the fielders executed a run out. However, their efforts weren't enough to prevent Shinfield from reaching a formidable 150-5 from their allotted 20 overs.

Sonning's reply began disastrously as they lost four wickets with just eight runs on the board. Jonathan Turner was run out for two, while Oscar Williams, Alexander Hatchett-Walker, and Zain Baloch all fell without scoring. Adyuth Chitalurri was particularly destructive with the ball, taking 3-3 from his two overs to demolish Sonning's top order.

Aryaansh Rawat and Ridith Kandadi offered brief resistance, each scoring eight runs, but wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. Isaac Page proved unplayable with figures of 2-0 from two maiden overs, while Sidharth Ram, Fabian Gandhok, and James Edwards each claimed a wicket as the Shinfield bowling attack maintained relentless pressure.
