Sonning 2nd XI produced a dominant performance at King George's Field, defeating Crowthorne & Crown Wood by 147 runs in their Division 5B league fixture. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Sonning amassed an impressive 270 all out before dismissing the visitors for just 123.

Duncan Parr anchored the Sonning innings with a patient 56 from 101 deliveries, providing stability as wickets fell around him. The innings truly accelerated when Raoul Harding smashed 49 from just 30 balls, including four sixes, taking Sonning past the 150-mark at a rapid pace.

The standout batting performance came from Ehtesham Azam, who arrived at number 10 and blasted an unbeaten 64 from only 21 deliveries. Azam's explosive innings featured eight sixes as he formed a crucial last-wicket partnership of 84 with Jack Wolfenden (19), propelling Sonning to a formidable total.

David Krüger was the pick of the Crowthorne & Crown Wood bowlers, claiming 4-52, while Oliver Taylor provided support with 2-42. Despite these efforts, the visitors struggled to contain Sonning's lower-order assault.

In reply, Crowthorne & Crown Wood never threatened the target, losing wickets at regular intervals. Nick Outram (15) and David Krüger (13) made the only notable opening partnership of 37, before Ehtesham Azam completed his outstanding all-round performance by taking 4-18 from nine disciplined overs.

Duncan Parr complemented his batting with an excellent bowling display, claiming 3-27, while Jack Wolfenden and John Rimmer picked up a wicket apiece. Anthony Cluett offered the most resistance for the visitors with a determined 19 from 40 balls, but when he fell to Azam, the result was inevitable.

Jeff Cluett remained unbeaten on 14 as Sonning wrapped up the innings in the 31st over, securing a comprehensive victory and maximum points in their Division 5B campaign.
