Sonning U9 Eagles travelled to Theale & Tilehurst on Sunday for their BYCL Under 9 Super 8s South West fixture but were unable to chase down the home side's total, falling to a 21-run defeat in this pairs format contest.

Theale and Tilehurst won the toss and chose to bat first, making good use of home conditions to post a competitive total of 115 for 5 from their 20 overs. The home batters showed positive intent throughout the innings, rotating the strike well and finding the boundary with enough regularity to build a score that would prove beyond the Eagles' reach.

Captain Ahmad Naqash led his side into the field with a squad of ten, and the Eagles showed commendable spirit with the ball, picking up five wickets across the innings.
