Sonning Secure Crucial Victory Against Binfield in Division 2B Clash
Sonning 1st XI claimed a valuable win at King George's Field on Saturday, successfully chasing down Binfield's total of 180 with one wicket to spare in their Thames Valley Cricket League Division 2B encounter.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Binfield struggled against disciplined Sonning bowling. Captain Peter Higginbottom (3-55) struck early, removing Archie Gowthorp for just 6 runs, caught by Zanoxolo Gift Kwatsha. Jack Collett (9) soon followed, caught behind by Oliver Rowe off Higginbottom's bowling.
Isaac Humphrey provided resistance for Binfield with a patient 41 from 80 balls before falling to Sam Haselgrove, who finished with impressive figures of 3-28. Chris Morgan was Binfield's top scorer with 42 from 77 deliveries, building crucial partnerships including a 42-run stand with Eddie Hulbert (25) that helped push the visitors toward a respectable total.
