3rd XI v Mortimer & West End 1st Team
Mortimer & West End won the toss and elected to bat.
Match Report
A hot day with a weakened 3'rd XI bowling lineup saw us toil in the field for a very long & arduous 45 overs. Jacob Fitton was the stand out bowler with regular near misses before claiming his 2 wickets. We felt that they were quite lucky to have amassed 299 as so many edges went for 4 & the bowling figures certainly did not do justice to some of good bowling that was put down for little reward. After being set 300 to win, we knew that on a small pitch with lightening fast outfield, it was definitely worth having a go at getting somewhere near the total. Some early good hitting by Driver, Tahir & Thava set the tone for the innings & with Rayfield superbly anchoring the innings with 70 Not Out. A small lower end wobble led to Alluri hitting a breezy 29 & some handy extras (38 in total) saw us home with 4 balls to spare. An excellent result considering the availability earlier in the week. We remain unbeaten & long may it continue.
