Khanna Duo Power Sonning to 305 in Binfield Friendly
Sonning CC Sunday As posted an impressive 305 runs at King George's Field on Sunday, with Kamran and Aryan Khanna delivering standout performances with bat and ball against Binfield CC.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Sonning's innings began with early drama as Richard Skeil was trapped LBW for 13 runs off just 6 balls. Oliver Rowe then took control with a commanding half-century, striking 11 boundaries in his 50 from 34 deliveries before Paul Morgan removed him to leave Sonning at 113-4.
The middle order initially struggled as Matthew Clift fell for a duck, but a crucial seventh-wicket partnership of 108 runs between Aryan Khanna (56) and Kamran Khanna (67) transformed the innings. Khanna was particularly aggressive, hitting 10 boundaries in his 43-ball stay, while 17-year-old Aryan constructed a more measured 56 from 53 deliveries.
Chander Prakash was the pick of the Binfield bowlers, claiming 3-44 from his seven overs, including the key wickets of Aryan Khanna and Isaac Blakey. Paul Morgan provided valuable support with a controlled spell of 2-30 from eight overs.
In reply, Binfield's Anthony Goff delivered a spectacular century, dominating the visitor's innings with 106 runs from 89 balls. His innings featured 20 boundaries as he combined with Oliver Bryant (47) for a substantial 113-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Sonning's bowling attack maintained discipline throughout, with William Hibberdine (2-27) making early breakthroughs. Oliver Rowe continued his excellent all-round performance by taking 2-25 from seven overs, including the prized wicket of Goff that effectively ended Binfield's challenge.
Aryan Khanna completed a memorable personal performance by claiming 2-42 with his off-spin, including the important wicket of Oliver Bryant just after he had built momentum. Despite some late hitting from Mehul Garg (13*) and Tim Vines (13*), Binfield finished their 40 overs on 233-6, falling 72 runs short of Sonning's total.
