Sonning 3rd XI Frustrated as Rain Forces Cancellation Against Fleet
Sonning 3rd XI's Division 7A fixture against Fleet was cancelled due to rain on Saturday, with both sides sharing the points at Knowl Hill CC.
The scheduled 45-over contest was called off following agreement between the two captains, with persistent wet weather making play impossible. Both Sonning and Fleet were awarded seven points apiece from the abandoned fixture, a result that will satisfy neither side as the league campaign progresses.
It was a disappointing outcome for the Sonning 3rd XI, who would have been keen to make the most of home advantage at Knowl Hill. With the Thames Valley Cricket League season in full swing, every missed opportunity to claim a full set of points can prove costly come the end of the summer.
Fleet, too, will have been left frustrated by the weather's intervention, with both clubs forced to accept a share of the spoils without a ball being bowled.
The cancellation adds to what has been an unpredictable spell of weather affecting fixtures across the region, and Sonning will now turn their attention to their next league outing, hoping for kinder skies and a full day's cricket.
