Troughton saves the day for Sonning



GEORGE TROUGHTON and Phil Swan combined in a dramatic last-wicket stand to keep Sonning on course to retain their Premier Division crown.



Sonning looked to be heading for a defeat in their crunch clash at title rivals Sandhurst.



The Pound Lane men were deep in trouble at 152-9 when Swan joined Troughton (35no), and the pair put on an unbroken partnership of 41 to see their side to victory at 191-9 in the penultimate over.



Earlier Sandhurst skipper Simon Hards had ripped through the early Sonning line-up, reducing them to 17-5 with a spell of 5-56 in 14.1 overs.



Tom Allan led the fightback with a defiant 58, and JJ Harris (21) and skipper Gary Phillips (23) put them back on course before Troughton and Swan completed the fightback.



Sandhurst had batted solidly as they totalled 190-7 in their 45 overs.



Andrew Tutty top-scored with 34, while Ben Rotherham, Aron Shallom, Hards, Graham Scott and Simon Massey all got into the 20s before they were dismissed.



Swan, Latif Gohar and Mark Richards all took two wickets for Sonning.
