Parr's Five-Wicket Haul and Harding's Explosive Fifty Guide Sonning to Victory at Shinfield

Sonning CC 2nd XI secured a comprehensive three-wicket win against Shinfield at Manor Ground, with Duncan Parr delivering a match-winning performance with both ball and bat. After Shinfield won the toss and elected to bat first, Parr's remarkable bowling figures of 5-6 from just 4.4 overs, including three maidens, dismantled the hosts' batting lineup.

Shinfield's innings started steadily with Sandeep Garg anchoring the top order with a patient 46 from 60 deliveries. After losing early wickets, Garg formed a valuable 50-run partnership with SriHarsha Iyengar (23) to stabilise the innings. Rohit Syed provided further resistance with a well-crafted 38, combining with Bikash Gurung (22) for a 54-run stand that pushed Shinfield towards a respectable total.

Parr's devastating spell changed the complexion of the game, with the Sonning bowler claiming five wickets in quick succession to restrict Shinfield to 175 all out in 37.4 overs. He received excellent support from Aadil Khan (2-45), while Ghulam Abbas, Jameel Ahamed, and Ethan Towner picked up a wicket apiece.

In response, Sonning's chase began cautiously as captain Robert Mosley fell early for 11. However, Parr continued his outstanding day with a solid 35, building a crucial platform before Raoul Harding unleashed a blistering assault on the Shinfield bowling attack. Harding hammered 56 from just 47 deliveries, including five towering sixes, as he and Parr combined for a match-defining 90-run partnership.

When both set batsmen departed, Indeveer Sahota took control with a composed unbeaten 46 from 38 balls, featuring six boundaries and a six. Despite a flurry of wickets as Rohit Syed (4-8 from 6.1 overs) threatened a comeback for the hosts, Sahota's assured presence at the crease guided Sonning to their target with nearly nine overs to spare.

Shinfield's captain Pawan Tyagi contributed with the ball, taking 2-33 from his eight overs, but couldn't prevent Sonning from reaching their target of 176 for the loss of seven wickets. Sonning's victory was built on disciplined bowling, particularly Parr's five-wicket haul, and decisive batting contributions from Harding and Sahota.

The win at Manor Ground Sports Facility gives Sonning a positive start in their Division 5B campaign, showcasing both bowling depth and batting firepower as they successfully chased down a challenging total on the road.
