Pahwa Family Powers Hounslow & Whitton to Emphatic Win Over Sonning 4ths
Hounslow & Whitton's 4th XI produced a batting masterclass at Sonning, amassing a mammoth 417-9 before dismissing the hosts for 198 to secure a convincing 219-run victory in Division 10A of the Thames Valley Cricket League.
Despite losing Pavandeep Madan for a duck in the first over, caught by David McLoughlin off Jai Sharma's bowling, Hounslow recovered spectacularly. Fateh Pahwa hammered a blistering 102 off just 45 deliveries, including nine sixes and nine fours, while Ajay Pahwa compiled a more measured 76 from 85 balls. Their 129-run partnership set the platform for the visitors' imposing total.
Asanga Mudalidewage continued the onslaught with a belligerent 76 from 41 balls, featuring 11 boundaries and four maximums. The carnage didn't stop there as Ankush Sharma (38), Sani Chopra (32), and Kamal Pahwa (23) all contributed valuable runs in a relentless batting display that saw the visitors hit 22 sixes in their 40 overs.
Sonning's Syed Naqi was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 5-67 from his seven overs in an otherwise difficult day for the home side's attack. Jai Sharma (2-48) and Mike Eaton (2-60) were the only other wicket-takers, while Syed Adnan endured a challenging spell, conceding 113 runs from his seven overs.
Chasing an improbable target, Sonning's David McLoughlin provided early hope with an aggressive 54 from just 32 balls, including nine fours and two sixes. Syed Naqi added a brisk 25, but Ravi Kumar's disciplined bowling (4-32) kept regular pressure on the batting side.
Arun Raghavendra fought valiantly with 29 from 49 deliveries, while Kabir Dave contributed a quick 23, but Asanga Mudalidewage (3-63) and Gurmeet Bhatia (2-40) ensured there would be no miracle comeback as Sonning were dismissed for 198 in the 29th over.
The result sees Hounslow & Whitton take 22 points, with their batting firepower proving decisive. Fateh Pahwa's explosive century and Ravi Kumar's four-wicket haul were the standout individual performances in a dominant display by the visitors.
