The Sabres, asked to bat first after Theale and Tilehurst won the toss, compiled 90 for 6 from their 20 overs before their bowlers fought back valiantly in the second innings to claim eight wickets and seal the win on the pairs cricket scoring system.

Captain Lewis Towner led from the front with the bat, top-scoring with a fluent 15 from just 10 balls, striking two boundaries in an innings that gave the Sabres' total real momentum in the middle overs.
