Match Report
Sonning 2nd XI Denied by Cancellation Against Bracknell
Sonning 2nd XI's Division 4B fixture against Bracknell United 2nd XI at King George's Field on Saturday was cancelled, leaving both sides to share the points in what proved a frustrating day for all involved.
The match, scheduled as a 45-over contest in the Thames Valley Cricket League, was called off without a ball being bowled. Both teams were awarded seven points apiece under the league's cancellation rules, with neither side able to claim any bonus points for batting or bowling.
The cancellation will be a source of disappointment for Sonning, who would have been keen to press their claims in the Division 4B standings on home turf. With league points at a premium during the summer months, losing an entire fixture represents a missed opportunity to gain ground on their rivals.
Bracknell United, too, will reflect on a wasted journey to King George's Field, though the equal share of points ensures neither side falls behind the other as a direct consequence of the abandoned afternoon.
Sonning's 2nd XI will now turn their attention to their next scheduled league fixture, hoping for better fortune with conditions and the opportunity to put in a full performance on the square.
