Stingers Player of the Year

The Stingers would like to congratulate our player of the year, and recipient of the Lady Valerie Trophy Siobhan Davis A player who epitomises everything it is to be part of the Women's squad at Sonning! A dedicated player, rocks up to training, makes amazing cakes...she is definitely a model player and lovely with it!  The presentation dinner was held at La Fontana (our sponsors 10% off bill for all Sonning Members).

This year saw us play 8 hardball and 16 softball games - often playing 2 or 3 in a day. When we only face 3 overs as a pair - the fantastic not out scores of 33 (Frances Howson), 28 (Melissa Pengelly) and 26 (Siobhan) are pretty impressive. We tend to bowl either 2 or 3 overs each so again 3/6 (Frances), 5/14 (Mel), 3/1 (Siobhan), 3/4 (Grace Phillips) and 3/11 (Elinor Longridge)

Whilst the stats are impressive - we know that it is each and every Stinger that contributes to the successes however, this year, with 80% of the votes Siobhan was our favourite.

Sunday saw us play our first indoor league game - with a couple of less experienced players, we won against Crowthorne and by a narrow margin, lost against Slough. It was another day of maximum effort and big smiles and the win was nice too
