Sonning CC – Protocol for Pavilion and Bar Opening during Covid-19

Please see below the protocol that we will be adhering to when using the Pavilion and Bar.  These guidelines are to be circulated around all members and visiting teams coming to Sonning Cricket Club and King Georges Field.

It is essential that anyone feeling unwell should not venture to the cricket club under any circumstances.  Should anyone feel unwell whilst at the club or after leaving and test positive for Covid-19 they must let the welfare officer know who will have the list of people that entered the Pavilion each time it is opened and will liaise with the appropriate contacts.

  • Please ensure you familiarise yourself with the diagram showing the flow of people through the pavilion.  We are not intending to open the pavilion up to anyone apart from those buying a drink from the bar or needing to use the toilet facilities.  No food will be available and shower facilities will remain unavailable for the time being.
  • To purchase a drink, you will have to stand socially distanced (as with a supermarket), outside of the pavilion with one person on the bottom step, one person inside the door and one person at the bar only at any time.  Only when a person has left the bar area and entered the changing room (route of exit) can people move to the next position.
  • On entering the club house, you must complete the form to register your name and contact details (for track and trace purposes) and you must use the hand sanitiser.
  • Drinks can only be paid with by card.
  • There are no glasses, but plastic cups can be provided which must be disposed of at the end of the night by the person using the cup, not by the bar staff.
  • Drinks will be bottles or cans only until further notice.
  • Wine drinkers will be supplied with a disposable half pint, but we would encourage people to bring their own receptacles.  Any glasses left at the end of the night will be disposed of along with the bottles.
  • Spirits will only be available in pre-mixed cans – no fruit can be added.
  • Ice will not be available from the bar staff, but can obtained from the ice bag with a plastic spoon which is then disposed of.
  • If someone wishes to use the toilet they must enter the front door only and follow the distancing protocol.  No queuing inside the pavilion for the toilet and only one person at a time in the toilets, unless there is a minor needing to be accompanied.
  • Visitors to the toilet must ensure they wipe down the toilet and sink on leaving and place wipes in the rubbish bin provided.  Hand sanitiser must be used.
  • There is strictly outside drinking only and this includes no use of the veranda.  We would suggest that people bring their own seating and provision for inclement weather.
  • White plastic chairs will be available but they must be wiped down before making them available and before putting them back at the end of the session.
  • We would like to suggest that minors do not accompany users of the bar; however, if they do then they must remain under the control of the parents at all time.
  • We appreciate it has been a long time since you have been able to socialise, yet we still do not have the green light to socialise indiscriminately. Please refer to our protocols on Training and Adapted Game play for more details in this regard.
  • There will only be one or two people serving drinks at any time and they will be abiding by the distancing.
  • You will order your drinks at the right-hand corner of the bar and collect on the left.  Please do not lean on the bar at any time.
  • We will close the bar for a period of 15 minutes regularly to enable staff to get a break – please allow them their space to do so.
  • These rules apply to all and without exception.
  • The names of those responsible for the bar each session will be posted to the door so you are aware of who you need to address any queries to.
  • There will now be no smoking on the veranda and we ask that if you do smoke, please ensure to use the buckets provided and do not move them from where they are positioned.
  • Anyone who appears to be adversely affected by alcohol will be asked to leave immediately.
